The Secretariat sends periodic requests for data on the fisheries for tuna and tuna-like species in the Indian Ocean. These requests are not only addressed to Member countries but to all countries involved in the different fisheries. Data submitted by the countries have to conform to the minimum mandatory data requirements and they are subject to the rules of confidentiality specified by the Commission.
The forms for the submission of fisheries statistics to the IOTC are available as excel template forms to simplify the process of entering and submitting the data. Forms in this format allow the reporting officer to enter the data directly on the form for later submission by e-mail to the Secretariat. Please, refer to the Notes for the Completion of IOTC Forms for details on how to use the forms.
In order to facilitate the reporting of fisheries data by IOTC CPC and other fishing countries in the Indian Ocean, the IOTC Secretariat has prepared Guidelines for the reporting of fisheries statistics to the IOTC. The Guidelines are based on the existing IOTC Data Requirements.
In addition, the IOTC Secretariat prepared and distributed in 2009 an IOTC Questionnaire on data collection, data management and data dissemination. IOTC CPCs and other parties that have not returned the Questionnaires are invited to do so at their earliest convenience
Please contact the IOTC Secretariat if you have any questions.
