The
agenda included sessions to review national fisheries,
the status of stocks of tuna and tuna biology, studies
on the environment, tagging and fisheries interactions,
progress in data collection systems, to consider the constitution
of working parties by the Scientific Committee of IOTC
and to formulate conclusions and recommendations. Mr Philippe
Michaud, Managing Director of Seychelles Fishing Authority,
was elected chairman.

The
meeting was attended by participants from Australia, China,
France, India, Iran, Japan, Maldives, Mauritius, Reunion,
Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Spain, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand,
United States of America and Yemen. The International
Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT)
and the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) were
also represented. |
